The Colorado Rockies have recalled outfielder Dexter Fowler from Triple-A Colorado Springs and optioned infielder Chris Nelson to the Sky Sox. Fowler played in 46 games with the Rockies earlier this season, batting .217 with one homer and four RBIs. Nelson, the Rockies' first-round pick in the 2004 amateur draft, went 2 for 5 with two runs scored in his first big league stint.

The Colorado Rockies aren't intimidated by Petco Park's spacious outfield. Clint Barmes hit a three-run homer and finished with four RBIs, and Carlos Gonzalez added a solo shot to lead Colorado to a 6-3 win over the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night. The Rockies have hit six homers in two nights at Petco, including one each game by Gonzalez.

The Philadelphia Phillies and Colorado Rockies will make up their rainout from this spring on Sept. 2 at Coors Field. The game was originally scheduled as the second game of a double-header on May 12. The Phillies will be returning home from a six-game West Coast trip when they make a stopover in Denver.

Ubaldo Jimenez was perfect through three, took a no-hitter and an 8-0 lead into the sixth and was done by the end of the inning. The Colorado Rockies went on to win 10-6 Monday night, supporting their ace with two-run homers from Miguel Olivo, Carlos Gonzalez and Ryan Spilborghs, and a solo shot from Seth Smith.

Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki left the game against Minnesota on Thursday in the eighth inning after getting hit by a pitch on his left hand. Tulowitzki was in visible pain after being hit by Twins reliever Alex Burnett and received attention from Rockies trainers. He remained in the game on the bases, but was pulled when the defense took the field in the bottom of the inning.

This was the kind of big hit the Los Angeles Angels hoped to see all season from Brandon Wood. Wood hit his first career grand slam and Mike Napoli added a three-run homer Sunday as the Angels routed the Colorado Rockies 10-3. A top prospect for years in the minors, Wood entered the game with only two home runs and a .173 batting average.

With one swing, Hideki Matsui reached a personal milestone and gave the Los Angeles Angels enough offense for a win. Matsui hit a grand slam in the first inning to give the Angels a 4-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night.
