Clint Barmes and the Colorado Rockies had no problems taking game two of a three game series against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night. Barmes lead the Rockies with a solo home run and finished the game with four rbi out of the lead off spot as the Rockies beat the Giants 15-6. The Rockies will now be going for the three game sweep of the Giants as they face off once again on Thursday night.

Besides Barmes’s four rbi’s, the Rockies got three rbi from Matt Holliday and Garret Atkins and then two from Chris Iannetta. Troy Tuluwitzki, Ryan Spilborghs, and Jeff Baker all helped out with the scoring cause as they all three finished with one rbi each.

On the mound for the Rockies it was Livan Hernandez who pitched seven innings to get the win. Hernandez did give up 12 hits and five runs but it was ok as the offense put up so many runs on the scoreboard. Steven Register was charged with one run in relief as well.

In a low scoring game on Wednesday afternoon, the Colorado Rockies used five pitchers to shut out the San Diego Padres 1-0. The five pitchers limited the Padres offense to only five hits while striking out six batters. Great job by the pithing staff!

Livan Hernandez tossed the first five innings of the game and picked up the win to improve to 2-3 on the year. He allowed three of the Padres five hits but did a good job by not allowing a run to score. Glendon Rusch, Ryan Speier, Manny Corpus, and Brian Fuentes all threw out of th bullpen for the rockies.

Joe Koshansky hit his third home run of the season when he went deep in the fourth inning off of Josh Geer. That was the only run for the Rockies even though they had eight hits in the game. As a team they struck out 10 times and left 13 runners on base. Not much production at all, and to be honest the rox were lucky to win on Wednesdsay.

Rockies will now be off on Thursday and then take on the Arizona Diamondbacks this weekend.

The Colorado Rockies were rocked at home by the San Diego Padres on Monday night. The Rockies had ten hits in the game but the pitching staff gave up eighteen and the Rockies lost 11-5. A six run third inning by the Padres put the Rockies in a big hole that they were never able to come out of.

Greg Reynolds was awful as he only lasted two innings after being charged with nine hits and seven runs. Reynolds took the loss and is now 2-7 on the year. Jason Hirsh gave up two more runs as he pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief after Reynolds was taken out of the game. Matt Herges and Steven Register both gave up single runs later in the game as well.

Four of the Rockies five runs came in the fourth inning when Troy Tulowitzki hit a grand slam. The final run for the Rockies came on a Chris Iannetta solo home run in the eighth inning. The Rockies offense just couldn’t keep up with the Padres.

What at terrible performance out of the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday afternoon. They finished up a series with the San Francisco Giants and dropped the finale by the score of 9-2. The Rockies were really never in the game as it was just a terrible performance by everyone on the team.

Starting pitcher Aaron Cook only lasted three innings before he was pulled. Cook allowed ten hits and six runs to take the loss and is now 16-9 on the year. Just one of those games that Cook simply didn’t have it and he got rocked hard. Steven Register gave up three more runs in the sixth inning as well.

As for the little offense that the Rockies did get, they scored singled runs in the second and fifth innings. Jeff Baker grounded into a fielders choice in the second inning and the scored Garret Atkins. In the fifth inning, Clint Barmes hit a solo home run. As a team, the Rockies only had four hits in the game as they struggled against Barry Zito for eighth innings and then Brad Hennessey in the ninth.
